Throughout its duration, Voltage Rip is an electrified journey, progressing from punchy, synthesized effects to overwhelming, wide textures. The energetic opening builds exponentially, gaining momentum with each second. Written for myself, this piece features some of my favorite guitar techniques and patterns, which are repeated to build tension before shifting to new material. However, it remains grounded through powerful echoes of recurring themes and riffs.

Inspired by my love for modern progressive rock, Voltage Rip expands on the instrumentation of a large experimental rock band using only guitar and fixed media, creating depth and multiple dimensions of sound. Subtle shifts in timbre and tone color emerge during and between sections, providing both intensity and contrast as energy ripples through the piece like a high-voltage current.
